Private, In-Home Guitar Lessons or Studio Lessons

You can get in-home private guitar lessons (beginner and intermediate) or come to my studio space in my dad’s home in Aspen Woods. In-home / onsite guitar lessons are 30 minutes or 60 minutes, whichever suits you best. (Guitar lessons for kids are usually shorter than those for adults but it depends on the kid.)

Lessons available include how to play acoustic guitar, how to play electric guitar, and how to play bass guitar. I offer country guitar lessons, rock guitar lessons, and lead guitar lessons.

In all guitar lessons, I teach six essential components of playing guitar:

• Campfire music: If you’re going to learn acoustic guitar, you want to be able to play music that people can recognize and sing along to around the campfire—because that’s cool! I focus on teaching my students how to do that so they can experience the joy of playing for their friends and family.
• Skill & endurance exercises: I teach specific exercises that I use to build up strength in the fingers so students can play faster and with more skill as time goes on. Practicing these exercises consistently can be a bit boring but they help a lot and you’ll see great improvements as a result.
• General soloing: Depending on a student’s skill level, there may be interest in lead guitar lessons. I teach the scales, how notes respond to one another and fit with chords, how to transition from one chord to another, and how to read sheet music.
• Performance skills: Performing is very different from playing guitar for your friends. I teach basic performance skills that make performing more comfortable and help you give the best performance possible.
• Recording: One of the best ways to improve how you play guitar is by recording yourself so you can listen to yourself play. Sometimes you think the song sounds perfect when you’re playing it but when you listen to the recording, you discover there are areas to work on.
• Theory: From day one of a beginner level in-home guitar lesson or in-studio lesson, I teach basic theory. But some students want to learn more in-depth theory. If that’s you, our lessons can be customized to focus more heavily on theory as well as learning to play guitar.
